Warm, full bodied tone from the humbucking pickups, an easy-playing neck, and an instantly familiar feel make the ES-335 an essential part of any player’s arsenal.YesterdayBy the mid-1950s, the electric guitar market was divided into two camps, each with its own appeal. Hollowbody electrics had the traditional look and sound; solidbody electrics strayed from conventional guitar lines and they produced a more aggressive tone with more sustain. In 1958 Gibson president Ted McCarty brought the two styles together in the Gibson ES-335 model.FusionIt had the arched top and violin-style F-holes of hollowbody models, but the body was thin (less than 2″ deep), with a double-cutaway shape and a solid maple block through the center. The semi-hollowbody style proved to be one of Gibson’s most versatile, providing the musical vehicle for such diverse and influential musicians as rocker Chuck Berry, jazzer Larry Carlton and bluesman B.B. King.

Its simple yet elegant design quickly helped it become the most popular model in the Les Paul Series. Cutting-yet-rich tone—the hallmark of the Les Paul—pours out of the 490R and 498T Alnico II magnet humbucker pickups, which are mounted on a carved maple top with a mahogany back. The faded finish models are equipped with BurstBucker Pro pickups and a mahogany top. The Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar includes a Gibson hardshell case (Faded and satin finish models come with a gig bag) and a limited lifetime warranty.

A number of B.C. Rich guitars use a classic Bolt-on construction. On these instruments a neck (typically maple) is bolted on with 4 screws to the body. This construction offers some added flexibility in the instruments adjustment and provides the option to change the neck in the future.

B.C. Rich BDSM Pickups
B.C. Rich designed their BDSM humbucking pickups to provide a solid sound and to be durable while delivering high output. BDSM stands for Broad Dynamic Sonically Matched. Which simply means that the pickup is designed to reproduce a wide range of frequencies accurately (broad dynamic). Then they are tested and matched in pairs (Neck and Bridge) by their inherent individual and signature tonal and output characteristics to give a solidly balanced tone (sonically matched).

Occasionally the shape of the instrument is accented by painting the bevels a contrasting color.

The top is finished in high-gloss lacquer, while the back, sides, and neck have a smooth satin finish that feels great and lets the wood resonate fully. Each Les Paul Traditional also comes with Gibson USA’s standard black snakeskin case.Period-Correct Pickguard The creme-colored pickguard has been a Les Paul staple dating back to the models of the late 1950s and the early 1960s. Many players, however, removed the pickguard from their Les Pauls to show off the beauty of the flame maple tops, moving Gibson to stop installing the pickguard altogether. During the 1980s and 1990s, Gibson began reinstalling the pickguard in the factory, and the Les Pauls from this era once again arrived in stores bearing the classic, creme-colored pickguard. The Les Paul Traditional comes equipped with a period-correct pickguard, designed to protect the maple top.Pickups: Neck – ‘57 Classic; Bridge – BurstBucker 3 Among the qualities that make Gibson’s original “Patent Applied For” humbucking pickups so unique are the subtle variations between coil windings. For the first few years of their productions—1955 to 1961—Gibson’s PAF humbuckers were wound using imprecise machines, resulting in pickups with slightly different output and tone. The BurstBucker 3 and ‘57 Classic Plus pickups are the result of Gibson drive to capture and recreate this characteristic. Introduced in 1992, the ‘57 Classic provide
