There may be a few differences in the clipping diodes, but the main op amp on this pedal is the JRC4558. That's the same op amp installed inside the TS9 and TS9DX. The switch can be touchy after a few years, but that can be fixed with a small spray of contact cleaner from Radio Shack. Basically, if you can't justify spending more for a Tube Screamer, this should be on your pedal board. I've had mine for about seven years. Aside from the switch issue, it's been very reliable. -- Runs just like the TS-9
I've been playing guitar for 30 years and I love this pedal! They talk about the original tube screamer reproduction for more than twice the price, as the real deal. Here's the deal; If you are playing through a tube amp (not a hybrid),there is no difference. So save some bucks! I played both pedals through a fender twin and there wasn't much difference. You will find a difference in the pedals when playing a solid state amp and the hybrids. This pedal also has a Hot switch which drives the pedal for solos.
