I just picked up a 98 Ruby Red Studio for $300 US last night. I have had a Strat for years and this thing simply blows it away. What a deal. Mine has the P 90 s on it, chrome trim and black pick guard and saddles for the P 90's The sound is killer. this thing is missing the high E string and the other strings are old yet I can already tell my Strat will get little use now. Thats how sweet the sound on these things is! -- What a deal
I have been interested in guitars for years now, and owned quite a number of them, such as Strats and Les Pauls. I sold them all over time, the last one after my marriage. A few years ago a friend hooked me up with a Les Paul Studio model, an ebony/ebony model such as the one listed here. Man, does it play well, and when hooked up to a Marshall amp it sounds like a MONSTER. Such fantastic sound at a bargain price. If you like a nice clean sound, like Buddy Guy (who played a Strat) or B.B. King, or prefer a harder, dirtier sound like Neil Young or Jimmy Page, this entry level Gibson is a must!

My Les Paul Studio came with the same neck on it that Gibson puts on the legendary Standard model. The body is a little different. The maple wood top is thinner, which in technical terms means that "technically" the guitar should have less tone or sustain, however, you have to have the hearing of a dog to tell the difference between this Studio and a Standard or Deluxe model. The humbuckers are a different, but for the price they should be. My Les Paul has either type '57 or '59 humbuckers on it. But really, who cares? It still sounds fantastic. Have you ever heard Neil Young play "Cortez The Killer?" My Studio model sounds JUST like Neil's Les Paul Deluxe. It is amazing what great sound you can get out of this Gibson!

Like every other Les Paul type the neck is glued on. Be careful if you play in bars. It will break off if it is abused like hell. Then you'll feel like a real jerk for having killed your best friend and meal ticket.

Blues, R&B, Country, Rock, this little gem can do it all. If you want a great guitar at an acceptable price, then don't be a schmuck. But it NOW! -- If you have the $$, and the desire to play, buy this NOW!
I've had quite a few nice electrics over the years, including a BC Rich, a sweet Guild jazz guitar, and most notably, a '72 Strat (When the Fender name still meant something).

My most recent electric acquisition is my wine red Les Paul Studio, and I gotta say, it is the best playing and sounding electric I've ever owned. The thing totally shreds. I play mostly electric blues and blues rock, and I couldn't ask for a better ax. I've played the Classic and Standard models, too, but for the money, you can't do better. -- The Best, yet affordable!
I just aquired a 1997 les paul studio, not on this site but still i wanted to share my experience with potential buyers, i have had a strat since 1998 and thought it was a good guitar, but after 5 minutes on my les paul, there are no words that can describe the feeling....the feel, the sound..., if you cant afford a more expensive les paul, this one will give you the sounds without breaking your wallet, i know i am selling my strat now...there will be no going back for me....you can be sure you are getting the real thing, only without the frills... -- Guitar Heaven
I got my Les Paul Studio (Plus, but Amazon doesn't have those) last April, and I am very, very impressed. First of all, mine is in the Desertburst finish and it is absolutely gorgeous. The way the light reflects off the paint job makes it even more beautiful. But enough about looks, because I stil have to cover every other aspect of the fine instrument. The most important thing for me, personally, is the perfect neck (A '59 style, I think?). It's not too wide, definately not too narrow, and pretty fast. Sure, neck and body binding would have been nice, but in my opinion, the lack of binding is the only thing that differs from the Standard. The stock pickups are very nice; you can get very versatile sounds out of them, but I still woul like to upgrade to some '57 Classics. The tuners are pretty nice, but I would have like gold ones better that the greenish ivory-looking ones. Aside from everything else, this guitar is solid as a ROCK! The first night I got it, I accidentally released my strap lock, which sent my baby crashing to the tile floor. When I picked it up, all that was wrong with it was a cracked knob! Incredible. Since then, I've dropped it a couple more times (on accident, of course), and it still looks as good as new. Whether you like playing Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, or even Hendrix, you can't go wrong with the Les Paul. -- Worth Every Penny!
